The Hof is celebrating a decade of community, connection, and celebration with a season-long anniversary honoring the people, partners, artists, employees, guests, and community members who have helped make it one of Richmond's most beloved gathering places.

HOW IT ALL BEGAN
The Hof's modern chapter began in 2016 when entrepreneur and developer Carter Snipes purchased and revitalized the property. At a time when Scott's Addition was only beginning its transformation into one of Richmond's most vibrant neighborhoods, Snipes envisioned a destination that would bring together hospitality, entertainment, events, and community under one roof.

THE EVOLUTION
Over the next decade, the Hof evolved through multiple successful chapters, including the HofGarden, the Dark Room, rooftop experiences, concerts, weddings, private celebrations, nightlife events, and community gatherings. In many ways, the Hof grew alongside Scott's Addition itself, becoming part of the neighborhood's identity and helping create the culture of gathering, celebration, and community that defines the district today.

THE NEXT CHAPTER
A defining moment in Hof's story came in 2022 when Snipes partnered with entrepreneur and executive, Natalie McNamara, to launch Harry's at Hofheimer. Built upon the belief that people will always seek meaningful places to gather and celebrate, Harry's was created to carry the Hof's legacy into its next chapter while introducing new hospitality experiences for Richmond's evolving community.

RICHMOND’S CELEBRATION LOCATION
While the Hof has evolved through many chapters over the last decade, its purpose has never changed: creating a place where people come together to celebrate life's biggest moments. Today, Harry's at Hofheimer serves as the property's flagship hospitality concept and the foundation for its future, carrying that tradition forward through dining, entertainment, private events, live music, and community programming. Guests can gather in the full-service restaurant on the first floor, enjoy dining and cocktails at the rooftop restaurant and bar, or host memorable events in the second-floor Loft and Library event spaces. Throughout the year, Harry's offers a vibrant lineup of signature programming, including Harry's LIVE, featuring local and touring musicians two to three nights each week; Sing Along Brunch every Saturday; Manifesto Hour, where guests explore the art and history of classic cocktails; After Shift, one of Richmond's premier hospitality industry gatherings; and Novella, Friday and Saturday night dance parties featuring some of Richmond's most popular DJs.

  • "When we acquired the property, the goal was never simply to renovate a historic building. The goal was to create a place where people wanted to gather. Watching the Hof become part of so many people's lives over the last decade has been incredibly rewarding. The weddings, celebrations, concerts, fundraisers, and community events are what define this place. What Natalie and her team have built through Harry's at Hofheimer represents the next chapter of that vision—honoring the past while creating new reasons for people to gather, celebrate, and build community for years to come."

  • "What makes the Hof special isn't any one event, concept, or experience—it's the role we've played in people's lives. For ten years, people have trusted the Hof with some of life's biggest moments. They've gotten married here, celebrated milestones here, gathered with friends here, discovered new artists here, and created memories they'll carry with them forever. What excites me most is that we're just getting started. Harry's at Hofheimer was built to honor everything people have loved about the Hof while creating new traditions, new experiences, and new memories for future generations of Richmonders. The venue has always been about bringing people together to celebrate, and that's exactly what will continue to guide us moving forward."

Historic Hofheimer Building

The Hofheimer Building is a 14,400 square foot historic property that was erected in 1928, for the Herold R. Hofheimer Fine Rug Company. The Department of Historic Resources characterizes it as one of the rare examples of “Exotic-Revival style” architecture in the Richmond area. The building features the iconic mediterranean-style dome and glazed mosaic tile. In fact, Mr. Hofheimer is rumored to have purchased the leftover tile from the construction of the Mosque Theater, now the Altria Theater, in 1926. The rooftop addition was built 11 years later in 1937, providing a work area that was used for air drying rugs. The construction of the roof is solid steel and concrete allowing for the perfect modern outdoor rooftop space.
